Classic Cafe Racer
Next to the Ristretto our "most radical Guzzi": The Fugitive! In cooperation with our first American customer this creation was put into existence: A naked racer that was built with no compromises.
Allan, who ordered the bike and has become a friend by now, had a clear vision: He wanted a performer. Chassis, engine and brakes were expected to perform on the level of powerful, modern sportbikes.
So the actual 4 valve engine was the only possible choice. The stock motor was completely overhauled, polished intakes and outlets, installing a camshaft with a more arduous profile, installation of the cylinders and pistons from the 1400c cm engline in combination with Keihin carburetors. In result the engine has become the most impressive, agile and elastic power plant we have ever ridden in a Guzzi. We estimate that it is the strongest air cooled Guzzi engine available on the market. The remark of Allan after his first test rides: "Everybody who has ever ridden a Guzzi should ride this!"
The chassis turned out to be very roadworthy due tot the 17' wheels in the classic Tonti frame, the Marzochi fork out of a MV Agusta and our custom rear swing arm. The radially fixed Behringer brakes allow a very effective control of the Fugitive, that weighs under 200 kilogramm with the tank full. Handling is easy and comfortable, swinging corners is entertainment and acceleration is fun at heart.
Realizing the project meant spending many hours in the gargage and on the miling machine - creating new parts and adjusting old ones. Our goal was to develop a modern biky that fears no comparism to a factory built like the BMW r nineT.
After having finished the Fugitive we dare say: We have come pretty damned close to that claim!
